KENNEL TO PLAYGROUND PROGRAM
Teaching Dogs How to Play — Step by Step
Kennel to Playground helps shelter and humane society teams build confident, structured play yards by teaching dogs appropriate social play skills. We focus on clear routines, safe group flow, and practical coaching that staff can use immediately.
What We Focus On
- Play skills foundations: how to invite, engage, and disengage appropriately
- Healthy play patterns: balanced interactions, role switching, and natural breaks
- Calm transitions: entering/exiting the yard, reset breaks, and re-introductions
- Body language basics: recognizing “loose,” “unsure,” and “too much” in real time
Program Formats
- On-site workshop: half day or full day (yard coaching + hands-on practice)
- Multi-visit implementation: assess → coach → refine → staff handoff
- Ongoing coaching: refreshers + support for new staff
What Your Team Leaves With
- Play yard flow checklist (entry, play, breaks, exit)
- “Healthy play” reference guide (what to encourage vs. pause)
- Simple coaching routines for shy, pushy, or inexperienced dogs
